She had a loving mother and an odd father that were divorced. That had gotten a divorce. When she was young her father would be out of the house at night and her mother worked during the day so she never got to spend time with them together. She hardly ever saw them in the same room together when they were both home. Not that they hated each other there was just a problem with them being together. They didn't even sleep in the same room, her mother was in the Master Bedroom and her father in the guest room that doubled as an office. Before she started going to school she thought that it was the way that all families lived and that everything was perfectly normal with her family. After she started going to school she noticed the teachers looking at her funny and whispering behind her back whenever they thought that she couldn't see them. One day she went into the teacher's workroom and demanded and explanation on why they thought it was okay to whisper about a student behind her back and demanded that they tell her what it was all about or else she would start a riot. The teachers were unsure that they could tell her about her family, particularly her father, so they taped a note to her shirt and sent her home to her mother for her to explain the fiasco to her. She showed the note to her mother and for the first time ever she saw her mother cry. She told her that she would stop her father from going to work that day so she could explain it to her. Her father came home that morning around 5 AM, earlier than usual and more awake than usual. He found his wife and daughter waiting up for him and what his daughter saw surprised him. Her father was dressed up in girl’s clothes with make-up and everything. When she realized that his daughter had seen his actual self he hung his head in shame. Kotone however was terrified. She hadn't realized that boys could wear girl’s clothes like girls could wear boys. It made her realize that boys were trickier than she originally thought. Maybe if they had been hiding that, they had been hiding other things. She began to avoid her father and boys in general, getting nervous and afraid whenever they were around. Her mother began to tell her that boys were evil things that would take your heart and eat it while you laid there dying and bleeding on the floor with nothing left to live for but a soulless, happiness free life. She grew up like that and a terrible problem with continuing to go to a boy and girl school. She stopped hanging out with her friends a lot of the time, especially the male ones and refused to answer when they called. Her mother was happy with the results. Most of her friends had been scared off by her behavior and wanted nothing to do with her but a few stayed, only girls were still there for her. She grew accustom to people looking at her funny and giving her double takes while she was walking to school or while she was in the hallway. They hadn't ever really seen anything like what she was doing so they didn't know how to react to it. Around her 15th birthday however one thing did get to her. People started making fun of the fact that her eyes were covered by her hair all the time, she loved her hair the way it was. She burst out into tears and her best friend for ten years walked away from her, claiming that they had never really been friends because Alida was just to clingy to hang around with anymore, people might start to talk. Her parents were getting older and soon her father passed away from heart disease. Her mother thought that her daughter would live a better life without him anyways, so they moved far away from their old home, to a place where Alida could just go to an all girls boarding school, rather than having to deal with a small heart attack herself every time she walked down a hall. She joined the library, in order to help pay for her boarding and tuition so that her mother didn’t have to work as hard. She loved working with books though so it was no real trouble for her. Her mother though, soon committed suicide after her daughter was safely put away in school. She had been tired of taking care of the brat and her defect of hating men, even if she had been part of the cause of it. Alida didn’t hear about the death until a few months after it had happened. She didn’t really know how to take it, so she just went about her daily work as usual. She started to adapt to people, mostly men and her phobia usually one rared its head around every so often making her able to handle day to day life. It was around this time that she had gotten an email that a game she had played to help her get over her phobia was back online. She decided to check it out again.
